42964 1963-09 Near Dunham Massey

With a Sheffield-Bangor train showing reporting number 1M64 Duncan Chaddock says " This is between Cinderland Crossing and Dunham Massey at School Lane Bridge on the Skelton Jc to Arpley LNWR line. The train is more likely to be Saturday Only, which did run this way until the middle 1960's. The passenger traffic was at weekends, except for the local service from Liverpool/Warrington Low Level to Manchester via Timperley Junction and the MSJA. I would agree, about 1963 and it would of been just about the time the service got withdrawn. I think it got to 1964 and that was it. Behind the train about a mile is where Minotaur came to its end on the mail train in 1964, so this photo is very close to this time. We are looking towards Cinderland Crossing/Altrincham. -thanks Duncan.
