HMST 5 1935 Chichester Ringng Rock

HMST 5 1935 Chichester Ringng Rock

The Hundred of Manhood and Selsey Tramways Company 0-6-0ST No 5 Ringing Rock and the Shefflex railbus at Chichester in 1935. Note the rather nice mix of PO wagons not necessarily to bring coal for the gas works (which was also very close to the basin of the Chichester Canal but was out of use by 1906), as domestic coal was often supplied to here from Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. the complete line of POs include Corral & Co, Yorkshire Main Colliery, Walter Moore & Son (who ceased trading in 1934 but their assets went mainly to the Bestwood Colliery Company), the Cooperative Wholesale Sociey, Willmer & Son and part of xxford of Chichester. This is possibly W.H.Whackford of Chichester who definately owned wagons but no other photos are known to exist.
Walter Moore and Yorkshire Main had several contracts to supply coal to other gas works.
