HR 94 1900s Dingwall MPD
Highland Railway Jones 'Strath' class 4-4-0 No. 94 'Strathtay'. Built by Neilson & co. of Glasgow in June 1892 and withdrawn in March 1925 still as HR No. 94.
The lovely backdrop of Dingwall MPD makes a perfect setting for this fine portrait of 'Strathtay' taken circa 1900. 'Strath' means 'river valley' in Gaelic (e.g. 'valley of the River Tay'). What a shame that colour photography arrived too late to capture such scenes.
Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
