Ex works Landore 87E allocated GWR Castle 4-6-0 No 4076 Carmarthen Castle with the 2.40pm Reading-Swindon stopping train at Tilehurst on 1 August 1959. It had only been released from Swindon Works on July 30th following a 122 day Heavy General overhaul. It was back in again for 25 days for a Light Casual starting on October 1959!
Peter Kerslake says Built at Swindon in February 1924 4076' went firstly to Old Oak Common where it remained for some while before moving to Landore and then to Llanelly in June 1961 from where it was condemned in February 1963. Photo: K.L. Cook / Rail Archive Stephenson
