By July 1967 not many steam arrivals from the south continued north with steam. The RCTS Railway Observer, Sep ’67 edition reported: ‘On 15th July 70012 reached Carlisle 28 minutes late on the 10.50 Blackpool-Glasgow and Grangemouth relief, 1z97, having apparently been delayed severely at Lostock Hall.
