A view of the south approach to Stockton station in 1959. Freight traffic was routed on the lines which ran on the west side of the station and a B1 hauled train is waiting to join the main line. A Newcastle-Middlesbrough DMU is signalled at the station but has yet to arrive. Entering the foreground from the right, J26 No 65777 is travelling engine & van to pick up a load from Stockton marshalling yard which was still open at that time, 24th June 1959.
