1629 1956-08-02 Worcester Tolladine Road Coal Yard

Passing Tolladine Road Coal Yard weighbridge. A short line descended from the middle of the Worcester engine shed yard under the Worcester & Hereford railway to coal sidings on the north side of Tolladine Road. Further down the line to the left would be the gas works where the loaded coal wagons would be shunted down to, then empty wagons taken away, to the right of the picture would be two parallel lines where coal merchants would unload by hand their coal to be put on their lorries then dispersed to various homes around the City. Shunting of these sidings was usually performed by an 0-6-0 pannier tank that also worked traffic for the 'Vinegar Works' branch. The coal sidings closed in the mid 1960s.
