GCR 1018 1925 York Chaloners Whin

GCR 1018 1925 York Chaloners Whin

Great Central Railway Robinson '11B' (LNER 'D9') class 4-4-0 No. 1018. Built by Sharp Stewart & Co. of Manchester in Feb. 1902 and withdrawn in Feb. 1950 as BR No. 62305. In the full glory of Great Central livery, 1018 powers it's way southbound at Chaloner's Whin on the outskirts of York. Although everything about the locomotive is still 'Great Central', this is in fact a post-grouping photograph c.1924/5. That's because I am informed that the leading coach is LNER-built. More information welcome!
