With just two months left in service here at Meldon quarry DS 682 , formerly Southern Region's 30238 is coupled to one of the 40 ton hopper " Walrus " wagons used for the standard grade of track ballast with part of the quarry face visible in the background.
Ten of these wagons was the normal load and when filled with ballast material they would be marshalled within the quarry complex for onward transit eastwards to Exeter and Southern Region points beyond.
