An interesting view of Meldon quarry's DS 3152 , formerly numbered 272 , an Adams G6 a long way from home undergoing overhaul at Eastleigh five years following its allocation to Meldon in November , 1949 .
This engine had replaced an elderly Kirtley tank engine which had survived ten years from late 1938 at Meldon , and as DS3152 the engine seen here went to Meldon quarry in November 1949 , serving until July of 1960 , a worthy eleven years at the quarry.
Painted in unlined black with the bold lettering shown here this locomotive was in turn replaced by 30238 in November of 1961 but the replacement only lasted for a thirteen months !
