70031 1967 Charnock Richard

Looking north from the footbridge over the lifted Darlington’s Sidings. 70031 is seen here heading an express parcels working, there is a Royal Mail Travelling Post Office leading the formation.
The white building on the left of Chorley Lane road bridge is the Dog & Partridge pub.
Peter Kerslake says "70031 Byron had been a London Midland Region engine from newly built in November 1952, its first home being at Holyhead before "doing the rounds" between eight other LMR depots extending down to London's Willesden for nearly two years from April 1963 and prior to withdrawal from Carlisle Kingmoor in November 1967".
