70036 1963-06-07 Rushcliffe Halt

BR Britannia Pacific No 70036 Boadicea approaches Rushcliffe Halt with the 4.30pm fish train from Grimsby to Whitland fish train on June 7, 1963.

Peter Kerslake says "One of the first three "Britannias" lost by Norwich M.P.D. in November1960 "Boadicea" was, in company with 70037 and 70038 despatched to the depot at March in Cambridgeshire, essentially a depot for freight locomotives where they were left in the open with little or no suitable work available for them.
Their salvation came in September and October of the following year when the three were transferred to Immingham, joining 70039,70040 and 70041 which had gone directly from Norwich to Immingham in December1960 thereby avoiding a futile transfer to March.
At Immingham the "Britannias" were a welcome addition to that depot's allocation, being rostered on the passsenger workings between Cleethorpes and Kings Cross together with making frequent appearances on express perishables and fish workings from Grimsby as shown here, invariabaly well turned out by the Immingham cleaners as seen in this view.
Leaving Immingham in December1963 "Boadicea" went to Carlisle Upperby before being condemned from Carlisle Kingmoor in October1966. "
