On the Down Irish Mail.
Peter Kerslake says " A superb overhead image of the one "Britannia" which for some reason was never giiven a name as Holyhead's 70047 heads homewards on the down "Irish Mail" from Euston to Holyhead, skirting the Irsh Sea, between Conway and Bangor.
A group of youngsters with their elders and a trolley piled high with cases await an eastboumd arrival, and 70047 has an impressive load, the leading van doubtless holding mail.
Following over five years at Holyhead 70047 moved throughout the Midland Region, being one of the eight of its class spending four months at Banbury from September1965 and following three months at Oxley.
Whilst at Oxley 70047 assisted in the 1965 Summer Saturday special West country workings from Wolverhampton, their "Castles" having by then all been withdrawn, and whilst at Banbury 70047 worked between Nottingham and Marylebone until January 1966."
