70045 Lord Rowallan at Patricroft Monton Loop with a Manchester-Glasgow express in 1961. It was at Newton Heath between February 1960 and September 1961 and had been fitted with AWS in October 1959 and a replacement speed indicator in December 1960. Note the coal piled up to the full extent of the loading gauge even though 70045 has one of the larger BR1D tenders which carried 9 tons of coal.
