70039 1963-09-12 Brocklesby
With the daily fish train but as Tony Saville says The date cannot be 1964-09-12 as per the slide as the locomotive left Immingham on 07/12/63. It is either 1961, 1962 or 1963 - I suspect the latter. The train is the daily Grimsby - Whitland Fish Train that it will work as far as Banbury routing via Lincoln, Tuxford, Mansfield, Kirby Sth Jct, the GC to Woodford Halse then Banbury 70039 Sir Christopher Wren looks to be in a work weary condition here, a far cry from its earlier years when it was allocated from new to Norwich and later to Stratford, and working the tightly timed express services between Liverpool Street and North Norfolk, duties which the Eastern Region's Britannias performed so well for virtually ten years or so. Now in 1964 the engine was shedded at Carlisle's Kingmoor Depot from where, in company with three of its sisters, it was withdrawn in September1967, thereby leaving fifteen of its class in service with just thirteen left on the 31st. of December, 1967 when Kingmoor finally closed, and they all went as well !
