Formerly allocated to Laira from new in October1951, 70021 Morning Star, in common with the other nine of the original Western Region allocation, was transferred to Cardiff Canton Motive Power Depot in late 1956 but it remained there for just two years as, in early July1958 and together with 70015 Apollo and 70017 Arrow, it was initially loaned to Manchester Trafford Park, working up to St. Pancras from Manchster, that move being made permanent two weeks later on the 19th. July, 1958. This move signified what was to become the end of Britannias on the Westen Region, as two years later in September1961 that Region's twelve remaining Britannias all left Cardiff Canton for he London Midland Region, and Morning Star is seen here working on that Region .
