70053 1960s Farington Junction
With replacement smokebox numberplate on a Carlisle-Crewe freight. Whilst shedded at Holyhead from June1964 Moray Firth was, in company with 70045 Lord Rowallan and the unnamed 70047, loaned to Wolverhampton's Oxley Depot in June1965 as that establishment had seen the last of its Castles go to the breakers ' yards during the final months1964, thereby creating a shortage of express passenger motive power at Oxley. Oxley was responsible for providng locomotives for the Summer holiday additional workings from the West Midlands down to the Westcountry, and the three Britannias were accordingly rostered to those additional workings, running down to Bristol before heading back to Wolverhampton with a homeward bound working that same afternoon. The three Britannias did not, however, return back to Holyhead following their time at Oxley but were in September1965 reshedded to Banbury, by this time a Midland Region Depot, where they remained for four months before being tranferred to Carlisle Kingmoor in January1966, their final home.
