70039 Sir Christopher Wren looking its best in this undated view at Crewe. With its 30A Stratford shed plate the engine has been through the Works and awaits a return to duty. 70039 was shedded at Norwich from new in February 1953 before a move to Stratford three months later and then back to Norwich in January 1959. Following a subsequent spell at Immingham, 70039 was transferred to the London Midland Region in December 1963 and was finally withdrawn from Carlisle Kingmoor in September 1967. Allocation dates of other locos gives this between 9/1954 and 5/56
