Peter Kerslake adds "After withdrawal in August 1962 Duke of Gloucester stayed at Crewe North until December 1964 when it was shunted over to the adjacent Works, remaining there until its sale to Woodhams in 1967 but it was sent in error to Cashmores at Newport where someone spotted a "to Barry" label tied to 71000 and quickly sent it to its intended destination before the cutters at Cashmores got to work on it!"
