The late Chris Crofts, who knew a lot about PO wagons, stated (in MRJ 194, I think) that the large 'SC' on Stephenson Clarke wagons didn't appear until 1928, thus giving the earliest date for this picture. It can't be long after that though, because 287 and 3923 haven't received it, nor the unidentifed SC wagon to the left of 5160.
