As a young boy watches LNER J39 0-6-0 No 64818 and WD 2-8-0 with an Up goods entering Harrogate on 1 August 1950. It's climbing the 1 in 66 from Bilton Jct via Dragon Jct and is the assisting engine (aka "banker" in local terminology). Harrogate station is about half a mile further on.
