BR 40 1Co-Co1 No D346 with an eastbound freight passes Mirfield shed in c1965. The usual collection of ‘spotters’ are on Woodend Road bridge On the skyline is the glint of the copper-domed roof of Mirfield Monastery. On the right lit by a solitary gas lamp, are the steps leading down to the rear entrance of the shed. If no objections (usually not) a haven for spotters to access the delights lurking within. A BR ‘Class 5’ is on the right 73167 or maybe 73162, either way a visitor from Lancashire.
