6128 1964-08-01 Standish Junction

GWR 61XX 2-6-2T No 6128 passes Standish Junction with the 5.45pm Gloucester to Swindon train on August 1, 1964.

Peter Kerslake says "Introduced by Mr. Collett in 1931 the "6100" series of "Large Prairie" tanks were intended for use on passenger services around London, and 6128 seen here was allocated to Southall in 1956.
Seen here 6128 is on the Western Region line for Swindon with the London Midland Region main lines between Gloucester and Bristol in the foregound.
The straight and level sections of line to here at Standish from Tuffley Junction at Gloucester were the scene of many duels between express passenger workings headed by "Jubilees" and the like and Gloucester's little "1400's" heading for Stroud in those happy days!"
