46422 1960c Merrygill signal box near Kirkby Stephen

LMS 2MT 2-6-0 No 46422 is on an eastbound freight climbing up from Kirkby Stephen and has nearly got to Merrygill signal box (on the Up side, behind the photographer). Merrygill Down advance starter No.3 can be seen on the left, and overbridge 140 is in the distance. You can't really see it but the banker is just crossing Podgill viaduct (underbridge 139). Both bridges still there and along with Merrygill viaduct are maintained by the Northern Viaducts Trust (accessible on foot and well worth a visit). 46422 was only at 12D Kirkby Stephen for 14 months starting in April 1960.
