LMS 2MT 2-6-0 No 46405 with a Goole-Leeds slow approaching Pontefract on 7 September 1953.
The old NER clerestory brake third No 90025 is in Departmental use, allocated to York District, NE Eng, but I doubt if it the accomodation for the two painters working on the signal -they would go to jobs on service trains.
The LYR bracket signal is interesting as it has lost its main signal arm due to re-signalling but retains the doll. It was originally a junction signal for Pontefract West Junction, the diverging route being the Methley line past Prince of Wales Colliery. This must now be signalled at the exit of the station.
