43048 1957-09-07 Trent North Junction

LMS Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 No 43048 entering Trent (North Jct) on 7 September 1957. The engine is carrying ECS lamp code, so not a service train. It is probably using the North Curve to gain access to the Castle Donnington line via South Junction and Sheet stores Junction. The mogul is allocated to Derby.

We thought this was the summer Saturdays only 09.55 Derby to Yarmouth, which is using the curve to access the station and pick up connecting passengers from the Erewash Valley line before proceeding to Syston Junction, but this ran via Nottingham.

This 0955 (SO) Derby - Cromer Beach(1506) and Yarmouth Beach (1550) also conveyed passengers for Lowestoft Central (1506) and Gorleston on Sea (1535) in the rear two coaches. These were detached at Saxby Junction and attached to the 1052 (SO) Leicester - Lowestoft Central and Gorleston on Sea.
