1363 1961-07-21 Plymouth

1363 sits on the incline leading to the coaling stage at Laira MPD 21st July 1961. Built in 1910 this Churchward dock tank was withdrawn from service in December 1962.
Peter Kerslake says "Three of the five of this class were allocated to Plymouth's Laira depot in the mid 'fifties and spent much of their time at the former G.W.R. docks at Millbay in addition to use on on local freights and acting as shed pilot at Laira.
The fact that 1363 escaped the cutters 'torches when withdrawn was due to it having been damaged at the front end when being dragged out of Laira's Round Shed so it was shoved back in again and forgotten until being rescued on behalf of the Great Western Society."
