On a very mixed freight typical of the period and area.br/David J. Hayes comments quot;I think I'm correct in saying that this is the 4S38 air-braked wagonload service to Glasgow Sighthill running as a Class 7 on this occasion and with no air-braked wagons included in the consist at this point. The Mandatory Working Time Table for May 1974-May 1975 shows 4S38 as starting from St. Blazey at 11:05 FSSuX/10:25 FO. The service was booked to call at various locations and was electric-hauled from Bescot (D-E 21:36-22:15). The 4S38 service was introduced in 1972, but back then started from Bristol. It was one of the first air-braked wagonload services to be introduced, which later evolved into the Speedlink wagonload network launched in September 1977quot;.
