Peter Kerslake says ""Improved Director" 62677 during its last year in service was one of ten of the class allocated to Haymarket.
The 24 members of the class from 62671 to 62694 had continued Robinson's design for the earlier eleven GCR engines, albeit with modifications to conform to the Scottish loading gauge. They had painted names, a poor substitute for the brass earlier versions."
