A rare view of the shed (closed Jan '59) with the D11's from Haymarket in store. We are not postitive of the date but both were noted stored there in October 1958.

Peter Kerslake says "A sad scene from the closed Arbroath M.P.D. in the 'fifties with "Improved Directors" 62686 "The Fiery Cross" and 62684 "Wizard of the Moor" both laid up and out of service.
My 1956 shedbook shows that both these two were housed at 65A, which was Glasgow Eastfield and at that date being two of foureen there with ten shedded at Edinburgh's Haymarket.
62684 was later officially condemned in October of 1959 whilst 62686 lasted on the books. until July of 1961, two of the twenty four "Improved Directors" constructed for service north of the border by Sir Nigel Gresley from July of 1924 and following on from the eleven earlier Robinson locomotives built from December of 1919 to December of 1922 within the days of the Great Central Railway."
