62660 1955-08 Trent
On the 3pm Lincoln-Derby Midland.
Peter Kerslake says "The pioneer of the class, 62660 "Butler Henderson" in typical 1955 condition is on the 3.p.m. from Lincoln to Derby, the usual route for the four "Directors" housed at Lincoln St. Marks depot at this time.
62660 had been at Lincoln since October of 1953 when it was transferred there from Manchester Trafford Park from where it worked the Chester services, although its later time at Trafford Park had seen it stored out of use before moving eastwards to Lincoln.
"Butler Henderson's" final home was destined to be at Sheffield's Darnall depot, moving there from Lincoln in March 1957, the locomotive being given an overhaul at Manchester's Gorton Works whilst alocated to Darnall in 1957 but during its next visit to Gorton in late 1960 the view was taken not to overhaul it again, and it was condemned, but not destroyed by the cutters ' torches and thankfullly restored to its former Great Central livery for static preservation at Clapham Transport Museum, later moving to the N.R.M. at York."
