62663 1953-12 Skelton Junction
When a class of locomotive has outlived its original purpose, it is either scrapped in fairly short order or demoted. Such is the case with many ex-Great Central Railway passenger designs. This decline was often (as here) accompanied by a woeful external appearance. Ex-GCR Robinson '11F' (LNER 'D11') 62663 'Prince Albert' is approaching Skelton Junction near Altrincham in Cheshire with a train of empty coal wagons in December 1953
