Great Western Railway Collett '5101' class 2-6-2 Tank No. 5178. Built at Swindon in Jan. 1931 and withdrawn in Mar. 1960. Running light through Birminham Snow Hill Station in June 1937 are 5178 and an unidentified classmate. The '5101s' were Charles Collett's update based on Churchward's earlier '3100/5100' classes. They could mostly be seen on suburban and local passenger services across the GWR system. We are fortunate to have eight preserved from the 140 built.
