4109 1953-06-30 Newton Abbot shed

Fresh from works attention Where did the weather vane get preserved at?

Newton Abbot had a Works within the Motive Power Depot and it cold be that their 4109 had just been through that local Works rather than Swindon , but the front end has clearly had a repaint .
Engaged on secondary passenger duties in and round Newton Abbot that shed's allocation of these " Large Praries " were also called upon to act as banking engines over the nearby Dainton Bank , assisting both Westbound and Eastbound freights between Aller Junction and Totnes.
Later years took 4109 to Gloucester's Horton Road Depot in the early ' sixties.
