9454 1928c where
LNWR 7F 0-8-0 No 9454 at an unknown location in around 1928. An interesting example of one of these 'Super Ds' in early LMS livery but with Belpaire Firebox. Built new as a G2 in 1922 it entered traffic in October of that year with the LNWR no. 2178. LMS insignia were applied in 1925 and the Belpaire firebox was fitted in September 1927. Note the smokebox numberplate, which were soon discarded on these locos. Also note the 'S' on the cabside denoting it was in good condition and suitable for use on the heaviest duties. It was allocated to Bescot in 1928 which is where the photo may have been taken
