1370 1950s Weymouth MPD

1370 1950s Weymouth MPD

Probably 1954, no bell
I suspect that 1370 seen here may have been the first of this little six strong class to be withdrawn as in early 1960 her sister engine 1369 received 1370's boiler shortly after the former had been transferred from her long standing home at Swindon to Weymouth , 1369 joining 1367 and 1368 as well as 1370 which were already at that shed.
1370 hasn't yet been fitted with the bell carried by these locomotives at Weymouth , a warning device rung by the firemen to alert wandering pedestrians in the narrow and congested streets as a slow and often delayed progress was made by the engines and their trains running between the quay and mainline station.
Some coal seems to have missed the bunker and ended up on the cab roof !
