11112 1925 Poulton-le Fylde

11112 1925 Poulton-le Fylde

The Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's swansongs were the George Hughes 4-6-0 'Dreadnoughts' and his massive 4-6-4 'Baltic Tanks'. The tanks, all built by the LMS in 1924 were not wholly successful and only ten were built before a bigger proposed order was cancelled. They had short lives, the last (11110) going in 1942. This photograph at Poulton-le-Fylde was taken in 1925 and possibly shows 11112 'en route' to (or returning from) the Stockton & Darlington centenary celebrations in July 1925 where it was exhibited.
