The autumn sunlight catches B1 No 61070 a long term resident of New England as it hurries home on the Up main with a class D Express freight on Thursday 17th October 1963. The first 6 vehicles are sheeted fully fitted Shoc Opens as denoted by the three broad vertical stripes, their bodies being loosely fitted on the chassis with rubber and spring dampers. They are followed by a pair of brick opens before the van. At least a third of the train will be fully fitted in order for it to run as Class D.
