1029 1948 York Dringhouses

1029 1948 York Dringhouses

LNER Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0 No. 1029 'Chamois'. Built at Darlington in June 1947 and withdrawn in Dec. 1966 as BR No. 61029. A fine action image of 'Chamois' heading south away from Dringhouses at York in 1948. The train hides the playing fields alongside the railway where I spent many happy hours as a pre-teen child. Placing the occasional penny on the rails to have it flattened was not unknown!
