Ex-LNER Thompson 'B1' class 4-6-0 No. 61131. Built by NBL of Glasgow in Feb. 1947 as LNER No. 1131 and withdrawn in Dec. 1966. A 'B1' under the ingenious (and unique?) coaling plant at Royston MPD, is a relatively rare visitor to Royston in September 1966. It was a shed noted for its large allocation of 'WD' and '8F' 2-8-0s. Oh yes, and the all-pervasive smell of the nearby coke producing plant seen on the skyline.
