61125 1962c Bristol TM

Lots of cabbing going on. It has 1V34 chalked lightly on the smokebox door The " down " or western end of Temple Meads with its righthand curves through the station and the impressive approach buildings visible on the left so it looks as though 61125 has just arrived and will come off now and its fireman has asked his driver to close up so that he can uncouple , he having already removed one lamp from the buffer beam. The letter " V " in the chalked Reporting Number would indicate a working down from Wolverhampton to the far Westcountry . After Bath Road shed closed to steam locomotives arriving at Bristol on such workings were turned and watered at Barrow Road , where facilities , particularly in the later years , were minimal , to say the least ! It's clearly a good day for the " spotters " , however , but Temple Meads was the place to be at this time , especially on Summer Saturdays.
