The ex-LMS Fowler '2F' 0-6-0 Tanks were specifically designed for dock working and other similar locations where tight radius curves might be encountered and a short wheelbase design was needed. Only ten were built in 1928-9 and unusually for this type of locomotive, featured outside cylinders. The last class survivor was 47164 withdrawn in September 1964 at Birkenhead MPD in May 1955.
