42xxx 1950s Bradford Laisterdyke

42xxx 1950s Bradford Laisterdyke

An LMS Stanier 4P 2-6-4T viewed from Planetrees Road bridge at Laisterdyke directly down the ex-GNR lines into Bradford in the mid-1950s. The train is on what is sometimes referred to as the Bradford avoiding line between Bowling Junction and Laisterdyke. The lines to the right lead to St. Dnstans and Bradford Exchange.

The ‘J39’ will possibly be dropping back to Exchange Station after performing banking duties, or may be working in the many yards in the area.
The former HQ buildings of the city gas works are on the left. In the centre distance are the carriage sidings. On the right are a wool combing mill and a boiler works.
