Expertly caught in a pool of sunlight by the photographer here at Chester , 1013 " County of Dorset " is most likely still allocated to Shrewsbury at the date of this view although the engine was later moved to 82C ( Swindon ) for her last months in service.
No less than six " Counties " had been based at Shrewsbury a few years earlier , that shed regularly rostering them to the " North to West " express workings through to Newton Abbot over a demanding route which suited the class well and saw them put in some fine performances running via the Severn Tunnel in both directions.
These workings were shared between Shrewsbury and Newton Abbot locomotives and footplate crews , and whilst Shrewsbury had their " Counties " and " Castles " for such duties the Newton Abbot turns were filled by one of their equally well maintained " Castles "
