GER B12/3 4-6-0 No 8580 waits in the engine yard at Liverpool Street in June 1933.
Peter Kerslake says "The last of the class, 8580 was the tenth of the additional ten B12s ordered in 1928 for the Great Eastern section of the L.N.E.R. to fill the gap in main line motive power before the 'Sandringhams arrived. These ten were built by Beyer Peacock & Co and numbered 8571 to 8580, and joining the earlier 71 one inherited from the Great Eastern Railway in 1923.
Handsome in design and capable of running up to 90 m.ph.with substantial loads the class soldiered on until the last one, 61572, was finally condemned from Ipswich in 1961 following two years out of service."
