I would suggest that the lamp on 61567 bufferbeam indicates that it is on station pilot duties and is adding or removing stock from the rear of an Up train. A common occurrence in the 1950’s. The Up Main signals are in the off position at the front of the train. Is that a shunter between the second & third coach? 61567 was allocated to Grantham from Feb 1953 for two years.
