On the turntable out the back

David J. Hayes. says "The 6V53 headcode would imply that "Leviathan" at some point had worked the Stoke-on-Trent to St. Blazey empty vacuum-braked "Clayliner". I believe the service was still being electric-hauled to Bletchley at this time from where the "Western" would have worked it forward via Oxford and Westbury.

However, later in the year (circa October 1973), the service was amended to be electric-hauled from the Potteries to Bescot, the "Western" (having reached the Black Country marshalling yard with the overnight loaded "Clayliner" from Cornwall) working the empty train forward from there via Stourbridge Junction-Worcester-Gloucester-Bristol etc."
