Down goods on the Quarry line, more or less opposite Merstham station. Believe this taken from the same location as those shown of both 20001 and 20003 but in the other direction, on a down Bricklayers Arms or New Cross Gate - Brighton via Quarry line freight.
However Michael says "Are you sure this isn't going to Three Bridges? Although the headcode is London to Brighton via Quarry Line, engine working 543, according to Gammell's OPC book (ISBN 0 86093 510 8), was - in 1960 - a Bricklayer's Arms N class turn, starting at B Arms to Norwood Junction then making several trips from there, including Three Bridges at one point. In 1960, the Norwood departure time was 7:48pm so not broad daylight as here (shadows aren't long enough). Of course, the headcode disc may still be bearing a previous working's label. "
