Tens of thousands of ralway photographs must have been taken at Crewe over the decades since the London & North Western Railway in 1837 chose an otherwise sleepy village to be the centre of what became the largest joint stock company in Britain. By the 1970s electrification was complete and here we see BR 'AL5' class E3064 that had been built at Doncaster in Nov. 1961 and served for 30 years until May 1991.
