Class 31 1970s Barnsley Jumble Lane Crossing
This is a 1970s view of the delightfully named Jumble Lane Crossing at Barnsley Exchange Station. An unidentified BR Brush 'Class 31' diesel is heading south for Sheffield. The cramped site of the ex-Great Central Railway's Jumble Lane MPD (latterly 41G), closed in December 1959, was where 'Granada Bingo' is seen on the right. The locations of the bus station, railway station and the bingo hall have all remained the same but have been developed out of all recognition. A main road now runs between the railway and the bingo hall!
